Actually, the problem with the Mesa Tactical connectors is usually that the pins allow enough slop in the FCG that it wobbles in the receiver (ETA: which is what they said to you), causing feeding problems. There have been some problems with them pinching the receiver early on as well (I would say those are stacked tolerance issues where less than stellar Mossberg manufacturing combined with connectors that allowed the pinching to occur), but typically the problem is the wobble. I was stuck with this $50 paperweight because there was no way I would ever sell this side saddle on the EE because it never even worked. It turned my 930 into a club.

The Missouri-based chain is opening its first Western store in Las Vegas on Nov. 11. Saemisch estimated that the 180,000- to 200,000-square-foot store in Mesa Tactical could attract 2 million tourists a year.

The developers’ proposal will be considered at several City Council sessions and planning and zoning meetings.

The city also plans to hold several public meetings on the development.

I’m sure the city is thinking about their new tax source is trying to bring in buisiness. Maybe a $40 million dollar investment isn’t a bad thing if the city stands to make $10 million a year in income.

Why don’t they try creating a business environment where they don’t have to give taxpayer-funded bribes/kickbakcs/payoffs (which is all this is) in order to attract businesses.

I can’t imagine that residents wouldn’t like their portion of the $40 million instead of it going to a government-funded giveaway.

Mike,

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.

If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.

The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.

Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.

The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

My son has been collecting the components to build himself a 7.62 NATO sniper platform on an Armalite receiver much like the one pictured. He was thinking, if memory serves me correctly, of getting a LaRue Tactical mount like the one pictured. I will discourage him from doing so. –

The SpecOps works off two springs and the main one can jump the pin in the receiver mount. There are no user repair parts so the stock is then FUBAR and good luck getting one from Black Hawk. Knoxx made a good product, damn shame who they sold it to. The transition of the recoil to the rear and back is smoother with the Mesa Tactical w/Endine Buffer. The Mesa Tactical will last the life of the weapon. I can not say that for the SpecOps.

On Thursday, June 28, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution holding Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over subpoenaed documents about his department’s response to the “Fast and Furious” operation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The resolution passed by a bipartisan vote of 255 to 67.  Late today, Deputy Attorney General James Cole announced, in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, that the Department of Justice would not prosecute Holder. This leaves civil enforcement–authorized by a separate House vote Thursday–as the only likely avenue for Congress to enforce the subpoena.

There is no reason to have to be able to wrap your hand all the way, or even anywhere near to all the way, around the handguard. It is certainly not necessary to wrap you hand around them. I guess I am used to thinner profile rifle stocks. I cut my teeth using narrow rifle stocks such as those found on a Winchester featherweight, Savage 99 and the like. I know what you mean. Most of my handling time has been with M16 and thin carbine size stocks. But having to use different ones is just a matter of adapting. It is like when I have to go to work. I fly throughout the country and have to get a rental car. They all feel different, but I still drive them. hotdog250j

I know there are limiters out there and even a company or two that cut down larger mags to 10rd size, but I think that there is enough of a demand for them. There are quite a few states that require them and even more states that require it when hunting. Here in California, LE is very strict on large capacity mags… and I just don’t want to roll the dice by just throwing a limiter in a 30 rounder and riviting the bottom shut! I use Lancer 10rd mags now…and I like them, but they are really expensive. I’m a Magpul guy and would rather use them if they would just get on the ball and help us out…MAKE THEM PLEASE! techbrute

The PTS sights are functional, but the plastic is inferior. Depressing the side lever rather than the middle to activate the flip-up just bends and nothing happens on the knock-offs where the real Magpul is much stronger and rigid. The sight adjustment tool that came with them broke all four prongs the first time I used it. The cross bolt to tighten the rear sight also stripped out at less than “tight”.

This is mainly to smooth out the action and the fact that an AR15 collapsable AR15-length system doesn’t allow much forgiveness on a 308 action. . This is so true as I have seen many barrels of many brands and it seems the port sizes differ. When you purchase one of the top of the line barrels chances are the maker did some home work on port sizes and position of the port and that is some of the reasons they are top a the line barrels and cost more. Exactly – Noveske puts in extensive R&D on each barrel they sell. Profile, weight, gas port size, etc. A LOT of work goes into finding the ideal gas port diameter. I find their barrels shoot the softest out of anybody’s, yet are still 100% reliable. I agree with the comments on having some R&D going into the port size but no matter what design is used it is a compromise. One size does not work best for all loads or with/without a silencer. Having an adjustable block you can select “the size” that is optimum for the load. Redtazdog

The Trijicon was both smaller, and had a nicer dot, but was more expensive. Then I compared the Trijicon dot to the (much larger) aimpoint Micro. The Micro won with its beautiful adjustable dot. Do not take off your battery compartment when the sight is still on….

what distance are you sighting in…making that kind of adjustment to sight in an optic is not unusual.

I thought I did turn it off, but I could easily be wrong about that. I did not know about this issue so I was not paying close attention.

I had planned to sight it in at 100 yards, but I did not get that chance before taking it to a local pumpkin shoot with the WA group this weekend. I quickly discovered that I was not hitting anything with it, and could see bullet impacts high-right, so I set up a target stand at about 15 yards to test it. Sure enough, the POI was about 3-4 inches high and to the right. I’m just guessing about that as I threw the target away immediately after getting a rough sight in at that distance. After that I was getting consistant hits on small pumpkins out to about 75-80 yards. Many o’ punkin got vaporized that day! I plan to do an accurate sight in at the next opportunity.

The reason I was surprised is that EOTechs are supposed to be bore sighted at the factory, and my carry handle sight is dead on at 200 yards with the aperture at mechanical zero.

Actually, I really did want an ACOG. I have some minor vision problems with dot type sights that don’t occur with ACOGs, but after debating the cost versus the benefits I decided that the additional expense was not worth it for me.

Just an anecdote, but after I busted the firing pin in my Winchester Defender (many yarn ago), I became a believer in Snap-Caps. To detect/eliminate flinching, I’ve read that you should have somebody else load your weapon and either chamber a round or not prior to handing it over. Then I could load and shoot myself, not knowing if the next round is live or dummy. I have also seen ‘dummy rounds’, which can be loaded in the magazine and cycled, but it isn’t clear if they are safe to use for dry firing. NOTE: I am shooting an AR15. If the illumination mechanism were beefed up, this would be a near perfect scope. Even though the regular reticle is visible, I would like to have a illuminated reticle so my eyes/brain can pick up on the reticle faster for faster engagement down range. I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.

If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.

The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.

Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.

The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

I am one of those people who like you felt I couldn’t get all the way down to where I needed to be. What I ended up doing was installing a set of Trijicon ghost rings on the shotgun. I know this is not what you want to do but it was the only thing that worked for me. I have a friend who is very proficient with a shotgun and her recently purchased a LEO stock set off us and still uses his bead and does pretty dang good with it. when we were out at the range the first time we took it out he commented on it and started shooting. Now look at where your grip is when the shotgun is equipped with an M4 or pistol-gripped stock. You have to break your grip to operate the safety when using an M4 style stock on a Mossberg. I use a cut-down factory stock and if I had to do it over, I’d pick up a youth stock. I just shot a 2-day shotgun class with my 500 and it worked well. If you are dead-set on an M4 stocked shotgun, get a Remington 870. Why don’t they try creating a business environment where they don’t have to give taxpayer-funded bribes/kickbakcs/payoffs (which is all this is) in order to attract businesses.

I can’t imagine that residents wouldn’t like their portion of the $40 million instead of it going to a government-funded giveaway.

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.

If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.

The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.

Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.

The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

My son has been collecting the components to build himself a 7.62 NATO sniper platform on an Armalite receiver much like the one pictured. He was thinking, if memory serves me correctly, of getting a LaRue Tactical mount like the one pictured. I will discourage him from doing so. –

The SpecOps works off two springs and the main one can jump the pin in the receiver mount. There are no user repair parts so the stock is then FUBAR and good luck getting one from Black Hawk. Knoxx made a good product, damn shame who they sold it to. The transition of the recoil to the rear and back is smoother with the Mesa Tactical w/Endine Buffer. The Mesa Tactical will last the life of the weapon. I can not say that for the SpecOps.

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.

If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.

The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.

Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.

The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

Both AR and AK. Honestly, over time, a sticky with scores posted would make for a really interesting data base!!! Like the old “Postal Matches” that the Cast Bullet Association used to shoot. Honor system and for fun, everybody shot the course, and sent in the results. REALLY interesting stuff. As for Ron’s GREAT information there, it is obvious one thing, and we can be as critical of US military training all we want, but current training far exceeds the “practical” aspect of what many got in past wars. Good grief the training in WW2 was rudimentary at best. Maybe best called “On-The-Job” training… Ron, thanks very much. We won’t shoot the entire program here on my place, but will for sure set up a scorable Course of Fire and your material sure helps. Recently I got from the Finnish Military Attache in Washington a copy of Finnish AK Qualification. It is pretty simple, but teaches much about the gun and its potential. The only problem I had with the J&T was that the safety switch seemed pretty rough cut. Worked just fine, but wasn’t as pretty as I like. My brother assembled these for me in 2007 and 2008 using Essential Arms lower receivers and M and A rifle build kits. He used to assemble AR15′s in the early 90′s (using MA AR-15 Accessories and Essential Arms receivers) before the AWB and he was impressed with the improvement in fit and finish on the later vintage rifles. I bought the 14.5″ M4 AR-15 Accessories in June 2008 and the salesman was very helpful and friendly. There is much handwringing and teeth gnashing about how the MSAR doesn’t use AR magazines, and what a huge mistake it was for Microtech to make their own magazines. The TPD-AXR uses stanag scope mount arms #21 mags but lists at $2,200, even more expensive than the FS2000 which also uses stanag scope mount arms #21 mags (but not PMAGs, their ribs are too wide to fit the FN’s long magwell). In a discussion about this in the armory forums I recently posted the following: One of the main reasons I bought this gun was because it DOESN’T use AR15 mags. stanag scope mount arms #21 magazines SUCK and are the achilles’ heel of the AR system. They are the most plentiful for one reason, because the USA rammed them down NATO’s throat in the late 1970s under a cold war mag compatibility scheme designed to smooth logistics. They are NOT the best magazines available and when a gun using stanag scope mount arms #21 mags fails, you can never be sure if its the gun or the mag. Doesn’t matter if its an AR, an FNC, a Bushmaster M17, or an FS2000. When it jams, what’s the first thing you look at? That’s right, the mag. And don’t tell me that stanag scope mount arms #21 mags are “so plentiful” and then brag about how good Magpul PMAGs are, because those aren’t plentiful at all. The MSAR mags are 42 rounders that WORK every time and are rumored to be made by Magpul for MSAR. Show me an AR15 stick magazine that holds 42 rounds and works 100%.

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.

If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.

The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.

Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.

The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

My son has been collecting the components to build himself a 7.62 NATO sniper platform on an Armalite receiver much like the one pictured. He was thinking, if memory serves me correctly, of getting a LaRue Tactical mount like the one pictured. I will discourage him from doing so. –

Rawles said he was concerned with an item on the incentive list. Mayor Keno Hawker abstained because his back yard abuts the mall site.

A pedestrian-oriented theater district on 30 acres would be the first phase of construction, which could begin in about 18 months.

That includes a 57,000 square-foot Cinemark theater, the second the national chain would locate in Arizona, and 103,000 square feet of retail space.

“This is going to be a place where you want to be,” said head architect Robert Saemisch of Saemisch DiBella Architects Inc., which will design the theater.

Future phases include the Bass Pro store on 25 acres, a 110-acre retail district where the Super Wal-Mart would locate, a 30-acre auto mall and a 45-acrecommerce park.

Bass Pro Shops, an outdoor sporting-goods giant that sells everything from rods and rifles to hunters’ underarm deodorant and camouflage infant booties, attracts millions of tourists annually.

The Missouri-based chain is opening its first Western store in Las Vegas on Nov. 11. Saemisch estimated that the 180,000- to 200,000-square-foot store in Mesa Tactical could attract 2 million tourists a year.

The developers’ proposal will be considered at several City Council sessions and planning and zoning meetings.

The city also plans to hold several public meetings on the development.

Why don’t they try creating a business environment where they don’t have to give taxpayer-funded bribes/kickbakcs/payoffs (which is all this is) in order to attract businesses.

I can’t imagine that residents wouldn’t like their portion of the $40 million instead of it going to a government-funded giveaway.
